Orange Shadow

Author's I've worked with

Jason Prugar- "Petticoat Society"

Historical Mystery Thriller

Authors! I utilized Kayinat's services for my latest project and I am VERY HAPPY with her work. She provided a detailed 20-page report on the good and bad of my project, broken down by chapter. Not only that, but she provided suggested corrections that she'd like as a reader.

This is ON TOP OF a detailed edit of the manuscript itself. Her rates are extremely reasonable. I cannot recommend her enough!
-------------
I used Kay a second time for a short story and once again, she delivered! Her reports give you a bird's eye view of your story and then the manuscript edit breaks it down even further. Well worth it!

Kay/Architect- "Kala Na Pernas"

Sci Fi Fantasy Mystery

love helping out fellow authors and reviewing beta readers that I believe authors would benefit from hiring. In my opinion, a good beta reader responds to the story as a reader and leaves their authentic reactions, even when they're confused or things are dragging. They read the book like they picked it up in a book store or library.

Kayinat DEFINETELY did that and her comments were numerous and very entertaining! I loved reading them and seeing how my book was unfolding through her reader eyes. She was extremely detailed in her in-line comments alone. I liked that she was honest because it makes it way easier to understand where to edit. She was very clear when something was confusing or didn't make sense and when things were making sense. It was so fun for me to read through everything. It took me a couple hours but that's NOT a bad thing! It's great because it shows she was paying a lot of attention to the story and going above and beyond to make sure so much detail was added!

But what makes her services even more exceptional is her beta reader report. Mine was twenty pages long but it wasn't all negatives and it wasn't all "you need to fix this." She started her report with answers to my list of questions, which I appreciated. They were very detailed answers too! She then gave her overall book review which I think is great to give first. I want to know right away if a reader enjoyed the story or not and seeing the review first made me very excited to read the rest of her report. And her report was so detailed! She went over everything: plot progression, emotional attachment, characters, world building, setting, the list goes on. If you have trouble with something don't worry about not getting feedback on it; she gives so much and on all aspects!

What really made me impressed was how if she didn't think some aspect didn't need improvement, she noted that. For example, she put "Suggestions: none you nailed it honestly." This is one of the best aspects of an editor and beta reader in my opinion. Of course authors need to know the bad but when they are doing something good I think it's important to tell the author that. Sometimes I feel beta readers nitpick or try to find something wrong everywhere so it feels like they're doing their job, but in my opinion if something isn't wrong and they truly think that, they should be honest and tell the author that. It boosts confidence and gives authors their strengths so they could incorporate them into the story more. I love that Kayinat did that because sometimes there really isn't anything to fix and I also think it's part of an editor/beta reader's job to let an author know what those things are. but she also offer suggestions on what she thought could be improved, but it always worked for the story, theme. and plot. She never tried to change anything, just strengthened my vision which I think is wonderful. She also noted what confused her which really helps me especially as a sci-fi author where things can get confusing pretty fast.

She was extremely professional in emails and updated me as she read. I never thought she would ghost me and run. I love that she gave her opinion in her email delivering feedback too; it made me more excited to open her report. She goes above and beyond and delivers so much feedback that is extremely helpful. Her comments were amazing, her answers were detailed and she was such a joy to work with.I also love her boundaries because it makes her feedback so much more genuine. For example, she doesn't accept dark romance or erotica and I love that she doesn't say she reads anything when she doesn't. It makes her feedback stronger because she's going into a genre she already reads and enjoys, and it helps with knowing what your target audience will think.

I truly think authors would benefit from hiring her and she gave great suggestions. She'll be getting an acknowledgment in my book because she did that well! Please hire her you truly get your money's worth (and her prices are fair!)

Susan Morris/Sage Evans- "Almost Tragic"

Small Town cowboy romance

Kayinat recently beta-read a manuscript for me. She is a fantastic beta reader, offering lots of reader reactions to the document and also providing a comprehensive report on the plot and characters. Her price is fair, and she got my manuscript back to me ahead of schedule. Highly recommended.

Kayla Willeford- "Revelations (The in between)"

Afterlife fantasy fiction

Kayinat's beta reader services was exceptional. The feedback and insight provided was clear, in depth, and thoughtful. She analyzed characters beautifully. Reading through her comments in my book, along with the notes she provided as a whole is immeasurably valuable. Her notes allowed me to experience my book through the eyes of a reader and I am so thankful for that. Highly recommended!

Gail Fisher- "Returned to the Land"

Alternative History fiction

I engaged Kayinat as a developmental editor as well as a beta reader. She made copious comments throughout the manuscript. Then she provided me with a comprehensive report that looked at the manuscript from many different perspectives: Story arc, character development, dialogue, plot holes. She ended with a review of the whole novel, chapter by chapter, to show me which parts were most effective, which could be enhanced, deleted, or perhaps moved elsewhere, and whether each would either bore the reader or would entice the reader to read more. Extremely thorough review and valuable insights. I can feel my book becoming better just from having read her report!

Alex Lerner- "The blind spot"

Contemporary psychological thriller

Wow! This was the most detailed, thoughtful and helpful feedback I have ever received from an alpha reader. It's clear that she spent a lot of time reading and thinking about my book, about the characters and pacing and plot holes, and about the overall story. Her suggestions were excellent, insightful, and comprehensive. Most importantly, her feedback was detailed and specific. She explained exactly what worked and why, and exactly what didn't work, and why. Also, her turnaround time was incredible. I highly recommend her and I will absolutely work with her again. I'm so grateful for her feedback.

Preben Honerod Bentsen- "The No BS self help Book"

Finance Self help

Kayinat was responsive to my messages, easy to communicate with, and delivered ahead of time! Nice work and a good, thorough assessment of my book. Will definitely work with her again!

Kristen Watkins- "When the heart's at sea"

Historical Romantic Fiction

Finally. Someone who knows how to properly beta read. I could tell when you were immersed or I was doing a good job base your inline comments. They became summaries at the end, with actual reactions. Your notes were detailed and so helpful. I really look forward to working with you in the future.

I would highly recommend Kayinat to anyone who likes quality work, attention to detail, and anyone who is tired on the two paragraph report after paying top dollar.

Kristen Watkins. Author.

Kayinat was so helpful. I was stuck on the last quarter of my book, and her insightful(and detailed) comments and feedback, helped me to see exactly what was wrong. Will definitely use her for all my future books.

Cynthia Terelest- "Seal Of Approval"

Small town romance

Kayinat's beta reading was excellent.

The in text comments helped me understand how she felt, whether she understood my characters and their motives, and if she had empathy for my characters. It showed where improvements could be made. Many of the comments made me smile.

The beta reader report Kayinat supplied was detailed and explained the reasoning behind her thoughts. She gave me some good things to think about.

W Micheal -"Pernicious proclivities"

Mystery Thriller

I just went through the report Kayinat provided me for my 70k word thriller, Girl emerging. Kayinat's turnaround time was outstanding as were her inline comments and suggestions. They will benefit me greatly in updating my manuscript. I particularly pleased with the formatting of Kayinat's beta reading report on the manuscript in which she posed and responded to questions of the manuscript. I have no hesitation recommending Kayinat to others and will certainly request her services in the future.

Jamie Urencio -"Revinnia"
