Kayinat recently beta-read a manuscript for me. She is a fantastic beta reader, offering lots of reader reactions to the document and also providing a comprehensive report on the plot and characters. Her price is fair, and she got my manuscript back to me ahead of schedule. Highly recommended

Authors! I utilized Kayinat's services for my latest project and I am VERY HAPPY with her work. She provided a detailed 20-page report on the good and bad of my project, broken down by chapter. Not only that, but she provided suggested corrections that she'd like as a reader.
This is ON TOP OF a detailed edit of the manuscript itself. Her rates are extremely reasonable. I cannot recommend her enough!

I really love working with Kayinat. She definitely has a strong personality that shines through her in-line comments and reports, but it shows that she gets deeply invested in stories. In my opinion, it makes her feedback stronger since she really tries to dive into a book. When she says she writes her unfiltered thoughts, she means it! But they are so helpful and a lot make me smile, laugh, or think: " I should change this to make it less confusing." She's not shy to tell you how she feels, but she never says it in a rude or mean way. It's just honest.
I hired her to read another draft of my book, and I was impressed that the quality of her work didn't go down, despite being familiar with the world and characters already. She still gave me over 500 comments and paid attention to my big cast. She also had no issues tracking complexity.
And then she answered my questions in multi-paragraphs! After working so hard to give me a lot of feedback, she gave me even more.
She fit my target audience so well; it made me smile. She seems to be a reader who loves exploring dynamics between characters and how they respond and react to each other, which made it really easy for me to ask questions about my large cast specifically. However, she does give feedback on plot, pacing, narration, confusion, etc. I highly recommend her for authors who write more character or ensemble-driven works, though she is very adaptable to other works as well.
instead of feeling nervous to get emails from her, I felt excited and relieved. I knew I was going to get strong feedback because she reads every word and pays very close attention. I'm not just getting feedback on one part of the story--I'm getting it on all of it. This makes her turnaround time a bit longer, but it's so worth it, especially with her 15+ page reports, hundreds of in-llne comments, and price! Her suggestions were very helpful, but I liked that she saved them for the end and gave her reader's reactions first. it shows she approached the book as a reader first.
My book is stronger because of her, and she's an excellent beta reader.

I engaged Kayinat as a developmental editor as well as a beta reader. She made copious comments throughout the manuscript. Then she provided me with a comprehensive report that looked at the manuscript from many different perspectives: Story arc, character development, dialogue, plot holes. She ended with a review of the whole novel, chapter by chapter, to show me which parts were most effective, which could be enhanced, deleted, or perhaps moved elsewhere, and whether each would either bore the reader or would entice the reader to read more. Extremely thorough review and valuable insights. I can feel my book becoming better just from having read her report!

Kayinat's beta reading was excellent.
The in-text comments helped me understand how she felt, whether she understood my characters and their motives, and if she had empathy for my characters. It showed where improvements could be made. Many of the comments made me smile.
The beta reader report Kayinat supplied was detailed and explained the reasoning behind her thoughts. She gave me some good things to think about.

Kayinat recently beta read my 100K YA fantasy. She delivered a report of over 10,000 words, including detailed discussions on:
Starting pages: interesting?
Plot progression
Characters? What did you like/dislike about them? Emotional connection? Physical description?
Was the setting and the worldbuilding done well?
Anything predictable or cliche? Anything too vague to be believable?
Anything confusing? Plot holes or dis-jointed edges?
Pacing: Did any scene become hurried or dragged?
Did the sub-plots do their job in keeping the story engaging?
Was the writing style, tone, and voice consistent throughout the story?
Was tension present when needed? Were there some parts you wanted to skip?
Favorite character? And why? Least favorite character? And why?
Were the dialogues believable and powerful? Did it match with the character's personality?
How were relationships between the characters shown?
Ending: Gripping? Satisfying?
Overall, an in-depth and insightful review with concrete ideas on what’s working and where the manuscript can be improved.
Additionally, she annotated the text with over 1,000 inline comments, so that on almost every page, I see the reader's reaction as each scene unfolds. That gave me a good understanding of which words are impactful.
I’m very pleased with the result, and it’s excellent value for money.

I used Kay a second time for a short story and once again, she delivered! Her reports give you a bird's eye view of your story and then the manuscript edit breaks it down even further. Well worth it!

Wow! This was the most detailed, thoughtful and helpful feedback I have ever received from an alpha reader. It's clear that she spent a lot of time reading and thinking about my book, about the characters and pacing and plot holes, and about the overall story. Her suggestions were excellent, insightful, and comprehensive. Most importantly, her feedback was detailed and specific. She explained exactly what worked and why, and exactly what didn't work, and why. Also, her turnaround time was incredible. I highly recommend her and I will absolutely work with her again. I'm so grateful for her feedback.

Finally. Someone who knows how to properly beta read. I could tell when you were immersed or I was doing a good job base your inline comments. They became summaries at the end, with actual reactions. Your notes were detailed and so helpful. I really look forward to working with you in the future.
I would highly recommend Kayinat to anyone who likes quality work, attention to detail, and anyone who is tired on the two paragraph report after paying top dollar.

Kayinat's beta reader services was exceptional. The feedback and insight provided was clear, in depth, and thoughtful. She analyzed characters beautifully. Reading through her comments in my book, along with the notes she provided as a whole is immeasurably valuable. Her notes allowed me to experience my book through the eyes of a reader and I am so thankful for that. Highly recommended!

Kayinat was a fantastic beta reader. She was swift in providing both inline edits and comments and an overall summary of the book's strengths and areas for improvement. I would work with her again. My book was a memoir (FYI). She was also very reasonable cost-wise.

The Last Time I saw me

A PSA to authors: I’ve had PAID betas admit before that they have bad attention spans, usually split their time 50/50 while reading client’s book, or overall just don’t give their full attention because they actually don’t like reading or read much. They’re basically scrolling TikTok while working on your book. Please be very cautious about who you hire. Vet, vet, vet!!! Make sure they have read your genre as well. I had someone say they didn’t even know space opera was a genre but wanted to take on my book. Do not hire these type of readers. You’re just going to get bad feedback you don’t deserve.
Now, not every paid reader is like this. Kayinat isn’t, which is why I hired her again. I knew I had to write her another review because she answered questions I told her would become important later in my series. I never expected her to answer them now, but she did anyway, and I was genuinely shocked. Her answers were incredibly detailed, too.
I also appreciated one of her inline comments on a casual essay I sent her, where she mentioned that she wouldn’t take on a book if she wasn’t part of the target audience. That meant a lot to me because I’ve worked with far too many beta readers who accept every project just to make money, then return unhelpful feedback. Most of them try to mask the fact they don’t like reading or they don’t have much to say about your book because they weren’t paying attention by writing a bunch of filler on a report. Kayinat doesn’t do this, THANK GOODNESS. Everything she says is helpful. All of her notes talk about a scene or the overall book instead of abstract comments like advice from Reddit.
Kayinat understands that I’m a reader too. She doesn’t spend time telling me what “other readers” want because she respects that I have my own taste. She understands her role as a beta reader and goes even further by considering who she’s working with and how certain feedback can harm a book. She recognizes that reading is subjective and doesn’t waste page space lecturing me about “the market.”
She gave me over five hundred inline comments documenting her experience as a reader. A comment like, “Now I’m mad at him!” will always be more valuable to me than someone grading my book with a template and rubric. Kayinat reads extremely carefully without needing to be told to. That level of attention comes naturally to her, and that’s how I know she’s a genuine reader.
I also got lucky that Kayinat is part of my target audience and shares similar taste, but she’s still extremely honest. If she doesn’t like something, she says so and explains why. What I value most is that she responds to what I actually wrote, not to a version of my book she invented in her head.
What I find interesting is that the people who tried hardest to impress me with a superiority complex often gave the most surface-level notes. Kayinat didn’t. It doesn’t impress me when someone spends all their time trying to sound smarter than the material while missing all the subtext. Kayinat caught it all and gave me twenty pages of notes rooted in her genuine reader experience. THAT impressed me a lot. All she had to do was be herself and read so carefully. I never worry when her emails are in my inbox. I feel excited because I know my book is going to get better just by working with her.
Careful reading will always be the most helpful kind of feedback to me, and honestly, it’s the reason I still believe paid beta readers can be worthwhile. Kayinat gave me that hope back.
