KEN'S EDITING

About Ken's Editing

Welcome to Ken’s Editing!

Before you dive into exploring my website, let me share my primary goal as your editor and reader. I understand that entrusting your book to someone else can feel as daunting as handing over your precious baby. The anxiety and worry that come with this process are completely natural.

At Ken’s Editing, my aim is to make you feel safe and secure throughout our collaboration. Just as a butterfly emerges beautifully after its transformative journey, your book will flourish through our efforts.

To achieve this, I am committed to three key principles:

  1. Honoring Your Vision: I work with your vision, not against it.

  2. Creating a Safe Space: Your comfort and trust are my top priorities.

  3. Giving My All: I dedicate 110% effort to every project.

I can’t wait to embark on this journey with you!

P.S. Congratulations on reaching this stage! The best is yet to come.

Reviews: from the hearts of authors

Sci-fi Fantasy
-Beta reading
I  love helping out fellow authors and reviewing beta readers that I believe authors would benefit from hiring. In my opinion, a good beta reader responds to the story as a reader and leaves their authentic reactions, even when they're confused or things are dragging. They read the book like they picked it up in a book store or library. Kayinat DEFINETELY did that and her comments were numerous and very entertaining! I loved reading them and seeing how my book was unfolding through her reader eyes. She was extremely detailed in her in-line comments alone. I liked that she was honest because it makes it way easier to understand where to edit. She was very clear when something was confusing or didn't make sense and when things were making sense. It was so fun for me to read through everything. It took me a couple hours but that's NOT a bad thing! It's great because it shows she was paying a lot of attention to the story and going above and beyond to make sure so much detail was added!

But what makes her services even more exceptional is her beta reader report. Mine was twenty pages long but it wasn't all negatives and it wasn't all "you need to fix this." She started her report with answers to my list of questions, which I appreciated. They were very detailed answers too! She then gave her overall book review which I think is great to give first. I want to know right away if a reader enjoyed the story or not and seeing the review first made me very excited to read the rest of her report. And her report was so detailed! She went over everything: plot progression, emotional attachment, characters, world building, setting, the list goes on. If you have trouble with something don't worry about not getting feedback on it; she gives so much and on all aspects!

What really made me impressed was how if she didn't think some aspect didn't need improvement, she noted that. For example, she put "Suggestions: none you nailed it honestly." This is one of the best aspects of an editor and beta reader in my opinion. Of course authors need to know the bad but when they are doing something good I think it's important to tell the author that. Sometimes I feel beta readers nitpick or try to find something wrong everywhere so it feels like they're doing their job, but in my opinion if something isn't wrong and they truly think that, they should be honest and tell the author that. It boosts confidence and gives authors their strengths so they could incorporate them into the story more. I love that Kayinat did that because sometimes there really isn't anything to fix and I also think it's part of an editor/beta reader's job to let an author know what those things are. but she also offer suggestions on what she thought could be improved, but it always worked for the story, theme. and plot. She never tried to change anything, just strengthened my vision which I think is wonderful. She also noted what confused her which really helps me especially as a sci-fi author where things can get confusing pretty fast.

She was extremely professional in emails and updated me as she read. I never thought she would ghost me and run. I love that she gave her opinion in her email delivering feedback too; it made me more excited to open her report. She goes above and beyond and delivers so much feedback that is extremely helpful. Her comments were amazing, her answers were detailed and she was such a joy to work with. I also love her boundaries because it makes her feedback so much more genuine. For example, she doesn't accept dark romance or erotica and I love that she doesn't say she reads anything when she doesn't. It makes her feedback stronger because she's going into a genre she already reads and enjoys, and it helps with knowing what your target audience will think. I truly think authors would benefit from hiring her and she gave great suggestions. She'll be getting an acknowledgment in my book because she did that well! Please hire her you truly get your money's worth (and her prices are fair!)
